Parks & Recreation

Right across the street from Dunnavant Place and only 0.5 mile from the Dunnavant Valley entrance to the gated part of Highland Lakes is the Dunnavant Valley Park which opened in 2022. Included at the park is two large pavilions, a playground, restrooms, hiking trails, and fishing.

Retail

You’ll have plenty of options for shopping from the quaint, beautiful town of Mt Laurel to the more robust options along Highway 280. Highland Lakes is just minutes from both big brand stores and local shops.

Restaurants

La Paz, Area 41 Pizza, Shiki Sakura, OHenry’s Coffee, and The Red Shamrock Pub are all just a mile from the Highland Lakes entrance on Dunnavant Valley Road. 1.5 miles from the entrance on Highway 280 is the Lee Branch center with numerous options including fast food, healthy, upscale, and dessert options.

Grocery

Less than a mile from the Dunnavant Valley entrance is a Piggly Wiggle grocery store and just a mile and a half from the Highway 280 entrance is a Publix. There are additional options around, but how convenient is it to have two different grocery stores so close by?

Medical

Urgent care facilities, a freestanding ER department, pharmacies, dentists, family practices, veterinaries, and more are all within 3 miles from the community entrance. There’s no need in having to drive a long distance when you or your loved one is feeling under the weather or need your fur-baby cared for.

Churches

This area offers an incredible number of churches. The closest to Highland Lakes include Double Oak Community Church and Asbury United Methodist Church, among other Baptist, Presbyterian, Church of Christ, Non-denominational, and Catholic churches.

The Cahaba Valley Fire and EMR District is located just a mile from the Dunnavant Valley entrance to Highland Lakes.

Directions to
Highland Lakes

From downtown Birmingham, take Highway 280 East. Once you pass Greystone, you’ll go up a mountain and Highland Lakes Drive will be on the left at a traffic light. Turn left onto Highland Lakes Drive. You’ll follow it until you get to the gated entrance to the community where you’ll need to show your driver’s license.
